More Information

Chests in Clash Royale contain a guaranteed number of each rarity of card (this number can be zero) as well as a percentage chance to contain an additional Rare, Epic, and/or Legendary card. If the chest does not contain one of these additional cards, a Common card is given instead. A chest cannot contain more than one additional Rare, Epic, or Legendary card each.

These numbers depend on several factors including the total number of cards in the chest, the arena that it was won from, and the type of the chest itself. Generally, rarer types of chests have better chances of containing cards of higher rarities. Chests from higher arenas have better odds of containing cards of higher rarities since more of those rarer cards become available as the player unlocks higher arenas.

Usage Notes

  • Epic and Legendary Chests are not included as options in this tool because they do not follow Clash Royale’s normal card chance rules. Epic Chests cannot contain Common, Rare, or Legendary cards, and Legendary Chests will always contain a single Legendary card.
  • Since there are no Legendary cards available before the player reaches the P.E.K.K.A’s Playhouse arena, chests from arenas below that will have a 0% chance of containing a Legendary card.

Every card ranked on our Clash Royale Tier List

Updated on November 22nd, 2021- Added the new characters: Archer Queen, Golden Knight, and Skeleton King

Happy Birthday to Clash Royale! What's the best way to make a tribute to this great game than to rank all of the cards in a Clash Royale tier list! This successful mobile game has been out for a little over 5 years now, and it seems it isn't going anywhere. Back in the day, the game was extremely different. You had to use coins to play, there were huge 10,000-gem tournaments, and there weren't any legendary cards in the game.

Fast forward to 2021, and now there are over 100 cards available in Clash Royale. Some cards are too overpowered, and some others need some love from Supercell immediately, but today, we'll do our best to rank every single card in the game. We know the Clash Royale community won't agree with our rank, but then again, it's hard for the community to agree on anything. But that's part of any passionate gaming community.

Here's our ranking of every card available in a Clash Royale tier list.

Spell cards tier list

Clash Royale spell cards

Spells have always been polarizing in Clash Royale. Losing because your opponent did nothing but spam spells cards to your tower can be annoying, to put it lightly. Throughout the game's history, spells' tower damage has been nerfed significantly. And some spells like earthquake needed a separate nerf, and they're still strong in the game.

Still, they're part of the game, so upgrading the best spells will help you a long way on battles in the arena. Here is a Clash Royale tier list of best spell cards!

S Rank Spells

  • Eathquake
  • Fireball
  • Poison
  • The Log
  • Tornado

Champions

Coming into the latest update, Clash Royale will now feature Champions - we've already covered that, but if you're curious about their standing and which ones are the best, this Clash Royale tier list should give you an idea.

Golden Knight - A Rank (temporary ranking)

This is the starter Champion you'll own, so it probably won't be the absolute best. Still, he should be pretty fun to add into some specific teams.

Archer Queen - S Rank (temporary ranking)

Since the Archer Queen can turn invisible, she can deliver an element of surprise to the enemy. She can also be used strategically to decoy the opponents into attacking the towers (when she turns invisible the enemy troops automatically target the towers) and thus lose aggro, and possibly sneak onto the opponent's territory.

Skeleton King - S+ Rank (temporary ranking)

Thus far, the Skeleton King seems extremely powerful given his ability to summon a mini-army of skeletons to fight for him. While he is not extremely tanky as a unit, he can be a force to be reckoned with if given a proper tank unit in his deck as well as some more damage troops.

This page is about what cards are in general. To read more about the individual cards in Clash Royale, click here.

Cards-0.png

Cards are the only method of deploying troops, spells, and buildings onto the battlefield. Deploying cards costs Elixir, which is gradually gained during battle. Cards are primarily obtained through buying them with Gold or Gems in the Shop, or through finding them in Chests. Cards can also be received through trading or through clan members fulfilling requests. Duplicate cards obtained will fill up an upgrade meter. Once the meter is full, you can upgrade the card with Gold. All health and damage statistics are increased by roughly 10% per level. Cards that are able to spawn troops, such as the Goblin Hut and Graveyard, will have their spawned troop level increased by 1 per level.

Types of Cards

There are three main types of cards: troops, spells, and buildings. Generally, spells are temporary and can be cast anywhere in the battlefield, while buildings (which are stationary) and troops (which can move) can only be spawned on your territory, with the exception of the Miner and Goblin Drill. There are also 5 card rarities: Common (signified by grey or pale blue), Rare (signified by orange), Epic (signified by purple), Legendary (signified by a rainbow gradient) and Champion (signified by a bright yellow). Each rarity has a different number of levels.

  • Common cards have 14 different levels, ranging from level 1 to level 14.
  • Rare cards have 12 different levels, ranging from level 3 to level 14.
  • Epic cards have 9 different levels, ranging from level 6 to level 14.
  • Legendary cards have 6 different levels, ranging from level 9 to level 14.
  • Champion cards have 4 different levels, ranging from level 11 to level 14.

Champion Cards

Champion cards share functions which are unique to their rarity.

  • All Champion cards are troops, and when they are deployed, an ability icon will appear at the righthand side of the player's screen. At any time, the player can tap the icon in order to activate their Champion's unique ability. Activating an ability costs a certain amount of Elixir. The abilities adhere to the server's 1 second deployment delay. After the ability's duration concludes, the abilities will go on a cooldown, which prevents them from being used for some time. The cooldown will instantly reset if the player's Champion dies.
  • Additionally, Champions do not adhere to the regular card cycle rules. While the player's Champion is present on the arena, the Champion's card will be kept out from the cycle until the Champion dies. Thus, it is impossible for there to be more than 1 player-aligned Champion to be active at any time. Once the Champion dies, the Champion will be added back to the card cycle. They will return to the player's hand after 3 cards are played.
  • Only 1 Champion card can be present in a deck at any time.
  • Champions are "immune" to Mirror. If the player's last played card was a Champion, the Mirror will ignore it and repeat the card played before the Champion.
  • Cloned Champions cannot use abilities. Activating an ability while a cloned Champion is on the arena will only trigger it for the original troop.

Ranges

Each troop and defensive building in Clash Royale has a range, specified in tiles.

  • Cards that have a range of 0.8 tiles or less are classified as "Melee: Short". Should a card have less than 0.8 tiles of range, the table below will specify the exact numbers.
  • Cards that have a range of 1.2 tiles are classified as "Melee: Medium".
  • Cards that have a range of 1.6 tiles are classified as "Melee: Long".
  • Cards with a range of 2 or more tiles are simply classified as being ranged.

Trivia

  • The chest you get is based on the arena in which you battle in, not your current one. You will always fight in the higher arena (Example: if a player from Arena 5 is matched with a player from Arena 4, then they will fight in Spell Valley, which is Arena 5). This means that you can get cards from an Arena that you have not reached yet.
  • Epics can only be requested once every Sunday; Legendary and Champion Cards cannot be donated or requested.
  • If your card has reached the max level, each card received will give you a certain amount of Gold. This also holds true if you have enough cards to upgrade to the max level but haven't upgraded it yet. For example, when the upgrade meter of a level 13 Common card reaches "5000/5000", each additional card will be converted to 5 Gold.
    • Every Common collected over the maximum gives 5 Gold.
    • Every Rare gives 50 Gold.
    • Every Epic gives 500 Gold.
    • Every Legendary gives 20,000 Gold.
  • In the Japanese language setting, Epic Cards are called Super Rare Cards while Legendary Cards are called Ultra Rare Cards, the terms often used in card collection games. In the Korean language setting, Epic Cards are called Heroic Cards.

It is time for a new epic card rankings for all the epic cards in Clash Royale! We will be having a power ranking, 27-1, of the epic cards in Clash Royale as of August 2019. As many of you know, I have done this ranking before, when there were still 27 epic cards. The top 5 cards then, in order, were barbarian barrel, baby dragon, skeleton army, PEKKA, and golem. Let’s see how much those rankings were shaken up over the past couple balance changes and updates!

You can view the old ranking here: https://clashfordummies.com/2019/05/29/clash-royale-epic-card-rankings-may-2019/

Clash Royale Ranking the Epic Cards

How the Epic Cards are Ranked

When ranking these cards we put a lot of thought and effort into what makes the best epic card the best. We are considering a variety of different ways to rank which are order in importance as follows:

  1. Versatility
  2. Cost/Damage Ratio (is the card worth it?)
  3. Strength on defense and offense

So now that you know what we are judging on, lets go ahead and get into the rankings, starting with number 27!

Note: Text color indicates which way the card is trending in regard to the May rankings.

Epic Card Rankings

#27- Wall Breakers

Wall Breakers Clash Royale

I can’t remember a card that released as poorly as wall breakers. Ever since their release in February 2019, wall breakers have been one of the worst cards in Clash Royale, offering almost no value whatsoever. I feel like it would be somewhat easy to make this card relevant in the meta, but the Clash Royale development team has failed to do so thus far.

#26- Rage

Clash Royale Rage Spell

Some decks with rage included can be super annoying to play against, so it’s a good sign for the health of the meta that rage sits this low in the epic card rankings. With the lumberjack being a more popular choice as far as raging goes, the solo rage spell has suffered a bit, with no one willing to fork over the 2 elixir.

#25- Bowler

Bowler Clash Royale

It’s been a long, LONG time since the bowler has sat in the top half of the epic card rankings. The issue with the bowler is that the best synergy it has is with the graveyard, which is not a popular win condition at the moment. The bowler needs to find its own niche in Clash Royale in order to succeed and see some playing time.

#24- Mirror

Clash Royale Mirror

I’ve been hearing some rumors out there for the dark mirror entering Clash Royale soon, which MIGHT help the mirror make a comeback to become a strong card in the game. Right now, the mirror usually isn’t worth the extra one elixir cost, except in very niche situations. And with only 8 card spots, you don’t want a card for only niche situations.

#23- Hunter

Hunter Clash Royale

I’ve never been the biggest fan of the hunter and the reason is because he needs to get close to an opponent to do damage, which doesn’t work for a unit with as little HP as the hunter. There is definitely a spot for the hunter in the meta, but I think that he needs a slight HP buff in order to not be annihilated at close range.

#22- Executioner

Executioner Clash Royale

It’s really strange to see the executioner this low in the rankings, since he had a long reign in the top 10. However, the executioner will be one of our biggest fallers, down 7 spots from the May rankings. For some reason, players just aren’t favoring the executioner anymore, which I think is due to his insanely slow attack speed.

#21- Clone

Clash Royale Clone Spell

Clone? Number 21?! How did this happen??!! It is absolutely amazing to actually play against decks with the clone included in it, as the clone has made up a bunch of play share in the last three months. Honestly, the clone is no longer a joke card, with actual situations where it is extremely valuable and can swing the tide of a match.

#20- Witch

Witch Clash Royale

Similar to the executioner, the witch used to be a consistent top 10 epic card, but now is almost out of the top 20. As decks go cheaper and cheaper, the 5 elixir witch might be too much to invest in since there are other cards that can do similar things to the witch for less elixir, which can ultimately impact a push quite a lot.

#19- Prince

Prince Clash Royale

Even though the dark prince is one of the best epic cards in Clash Royale, the prince is towards the bottom. The prince is going to be the other card that dropped 7 spots to be one of our biggest fallers. The meta right now just doesn’t fit well with the prince, since so many spawn cards are at an all-time high.

#18- Freeze

Freeze Clash Royale

When they first changed the freeze mechanic, I was a huge fan, and used it in one of my primary decks for a few months. After that though, the freeze slowly slipped back down to where it was before. However, now we are seeing the freeze start to come back up a bit, though it is still a long ways away from where it used to be.

#17- Cannon Cart

Cannon Cart Clash Royale

A lot of you might think the cannon cart should be a little bit lower in these rankings, but after playing it a little bit, it is a strong card and a lot can be accomplished by using it in your deck. It forces a quick counter from your opponent, which can often lead to a mistake. If the cannon cart catches on, it can rise up the rankings fast.

#16- Electro-Dragon

Electro Dragon Clash Royale

The electro-dragon used to be one of the most OP cards in Clash Royale and then got nerfed into clash royale all epic cards. However, the electro-dragon has slowly been on the return, making its claim as one of the best defensive cards in Clash Royale. If it had a bit quicker of an attack speed, it could regain its place at the top of the epic cards.

#15- Giant Skeleton

Giant Skeleton Clash Royale

Speaking of great defensive cards, the giant skeleton is looking real good right now. Though still a long way from an elite tioga state bank newfield card, the defensive capability that the giant skeleton brings to the table is unmatched. You can create such a positive elixir trade that it doesn’t even matter if the giant skeleton isn’t around for a return offensive push.

#14- Goblin Giant

Goblin Giant Clash Royale

Something finally happened with the goblin giant as it is no longer the worst win condition in Clash Royale. Actually, the goblin giant just barely misses out on the top half of epic cards, which is a big turnaround for this card. Players are finally starting to figure out how to best play the goblin giant and it is on the rise!

#13- Guards

Guards Clash

I really like the idea behind guards, but the skeleton army is one step ahead right now, since they deal more damage and can impact a defense quicker. Still though, the fact that guards cannot die to spell is invaluable, especially in the era of two elixir spells that can other defensive cards like the skeleton army in one play.

#12- Golem

Golem Clash Royale

It is shocking to see the golem this low, as I don’t think the golem has ever been ranked this low in the history of the epic card rankings. The meta is so anti-golem right now, with the PEKKA and mega knight taking up a lot of the play the golem used to get. The golem is far from gone from the meta, but this should be worrisome for the future.

#11- Lightning

Lightning Clash Royale

Since lightning used to be one of the worst cards in Clash Royale, ranking #11 shouldn’t feel too terrible. Lightning is definitely an upper tier spell, since the three pronged attack allows it to take out a variety of units or buildings. I really like the gameplay behind the lightning, and the attempts to make sure you hit the cards you want to hit.

#10- Tornado

Tornado Clash Royale

One of the most unique cards in Clash Royale, it’s almost impossible to see the tornado slipping too far down in the meta. What the tornado brings to the game is irreplaceable. With this card you can activate the king’s tower, pull troops to the other lane, plus provide some damage onto them (taking out skeletons and bats).

#9- Skeleton Army

Skeleton Army Clash Royale

I’ve been playing the skeleton army since I first downloaded Clash Royale and my love for the card has never waned. The skarmy has one of the biggest DPS in Clash Royale, which makes it super valuable on defense. Even against splash damage troops, there are so many skeletons in this card that you can overwhelm almost any card.

#8- Clash royale all epic cards Barrel

Goblin Barrel Clash Royale

Since the goblin barrel is one of the highlight cards for Clash Royale, it’s always good to see it high up in the meta. Ever since the goblins were able to survive a zap, the goblin barrel has been crushing it. The giant snowball is still a decent counter, but having the timing is sometimes hard, so the goblins can get a few stabs on the tower.

#7- X-Bow

Clash Royale XBow

The x-bow is up big time, as it looks as though siege is making a small comeback. Even though I don’t really like playing siege cards, the x-bow is super powerful right now, with the range to take out cards from across the map. If you can defend the x-bow for a good amount of time, you can get unmatched damage onto the tower.

#6- Balloon

Balloon Clash Royale

I really want to see another air win condition added to the game, but for now, the balloon will do. We are seeing it less and less with the lava hound as it becomes its own card, with the power to reach the tower with the right support. Remember, having only one bomb drop by the balloon will end up with a ton of damage on the tower.

#5- Barbarian Barrel

Barbarian Barrel Clash Royale

Finally, we see the barbarian barrel start to fall as nerfs and the popularity of zap, giant snowball, and log catch up to it. The barbarian barrel has been nerfed twice since the last epic card rankings, and the damage decreases are starting to show. The barbarian barrel is still a great card, but no longer dominant as it used to be.

#4- Baby Dragon

Baby Dragon Clash Royale

The baby dragon has remained one of the best support cards in Clash Royale, fitting in well with so many different kinds of decks, from PEKKA decks to LavaLoon. The air splash damage is unbeatable as the baby dragon can counter so many different cards that might come up to counter your big push.

#3- Poison

Poison Clash Royale

Lately, the poison really has been a top tier spell option, competing with fireball for the best four elixir spell. The slow tick damage the poison brings makes it perfect for combining with big pushes to clear a whole array of cards from the arena. If it was a bit more powerful, I have no doubt it’d be the best spell in Clash Royale.

#2- Dark Prince

Dark Prince Clash Royale

The biggest riser in these epic card rankings is the dark prince, which is up 11 spots from #13 to #2. I’m a big fan of the dark prince as a secondary tank unit, perfect for fitting in well with PEKKA attacks to add some splash damage to the mix. This is the highest the dark prince has been in a while and I hope he stays in this spot.

#1- PEKKA

PEKKA Clash royale all epic cards Royale

Probably unsurprisingly, the PEKKA is our number 1 epic card for August 2019. The PEKKA has been dominant over the summer, clash royale all epic cards the top win condition in Clash Royale. Currently it has a 25% USAGE rate, which is crazy high for a high elixir, non-support card like the PEKKA. There will probably be a slight nerf in a future balance change.

So that is going to wrap it up for our epic card rankings for August of 2019! Stay tuned soon to see our legendary card rankings. Thanks for reading and comment below what you think of the rankings!

This successful mobile clash royale all epic cards has been out for a little over 5 years now, and it seems it isn't going anywhere.

Original list by Sergio Velasquez, updated by Pocket Gamer Staff.

Champions

Coming into the latest update, Clash Royale will now feature Champions - we've already covered that, but if you're curious about their standing and which ones clash royale all epic cards the best, this Clash Royale tier list should give you an idea.

3

Win Conditions

win conditions Clash Royale

Talking about win conditions can be confusing, especially because players don’t often agree on what a win condition is. However, for simplicity’s sake, we’ll rank them based on what we think and what Royale API considers a win condition. These Win Conditions are sorted in a tier list from the best to worst!

One thing’s for sure. If you don’t have anything to battle against them, you’re going to lose. Whether it is the always viable Baby Dragon or the sometimes annoying bats, you need to have something in your Deck to counter these air cards.

This page is about what cards are in general.

While the player's Champion is present on the clash royale all epic cards, the Champion's card will be kept out from the cycle until the Champion dies.

Card Comparison

Click a column header to sort a table. Note: the levels of the cards in the tables below are currently those of the old Tournament Standard Rules (9). The current Tournament Standard Rules set all cards to Level 11.
