The Intown Food Pantry is the emergency food program of Intown Collaborative Ministries and is located at DHPC. The Pantry is supported by congregations, individuals, businesses, and organizations in zip codes 30306 and 30307 and beyond. The Pantry aims to help alleviate hunger by providing nutritious food and social service information to those who need them. We also strive to give people opportunities for personal and spiritual growth through meaningful service.

DHPC members and friends who are interested in serving hungry neighbors may bring food donations any time the church office is open. Donations may be left in the basket behind the back pew of the sanctuary. Donations are delivered to the food pantry by a DHPC volunteer. All donations are welcome. DHPC is primarily responsible for the donations of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, condiment packets, sugar packets, and macaroni and cheese. However, all donations are welcome. Though large quantity donations can be divided into smaller packages, single-serving items are helpful for individuals living on the street who have no food storage facilities. Additionally, self-opening containers that do not require can openers are particularly helpful.

To learn more about this ministry of DHPC, please contact the office at [email protected] or by calling 404-875-7591.

   2020 Food-A-Thon Donation Delivery Day
        Friday, November 13th - Atlanta Community Food Bank 10:00am - 12:00pm

What is Food-A-Thon?

The Food-A-Thon is an annual food drive hosted by the Atlanta Apartment Association and its membership.  It is the annual community service project of the Atlanta Apartment Association.  All charitable donations collected go to the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) to help thousands of people who are in need.

Each year AAA's Food-A-Thon donates millions of meals to help feed Georgia's hungry.  Throughout our 30 year partnership with ACFB, AAA has donated more than 120 Million meals to Georgia families in need.

To celebrate the efforts of our annual Food Drive and all our hard work, the Can Can Ball was founded, bringing our community together. With these two spectacular events, we are proud to announce that this has become the largest food drive in the country.

ATLANTA, GA — As the food insecurity crisis continues throughout the pandemic, Georgians can help drive money toward the Atlanta Community Food Bank by just buying Yoplait products, according to a news release.

The release said 1 in 5 children in the Atlanta Community Food Bank's 29-county service area are food insecure, and the demand is growing. The Atlanta food bank is distributing about 47 percent more food each week than this time one year ago.

"In fact, January saw a 17 percent increase in food distributed vs. January 2020," the release said. "And for all the donated items, dairy only makes up 8 percent of the total food. Dairy is one of the most requested, and least donated, items at food banks in America. So, Yoplait wanted to help."

Find out what's happening in Atlanta with free, real-time updates from Patch.

That's why Yoplait and Feeding America partnered to help local food banks across the country — including the Atlanta Community Food Bank — meet the growing needs of their communities amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, creating the Lids to Feed America program.

Through Lids to Feed America, Georgians can purchase specially-marked Yoplait products through the end of April at any grocery retailer, scan and submit their receipt at YoplaitLids.com.

Find out what's happening in Atlanta with free, real-time updates from Patch.

For each eligible purchase on a submitted receipt, Yoplait will donate 10 cents to local Feeding America member food banks, like Atlanta Community Food Bank, for a maximum total donation up to $600,000.

For more information, visit the Lids to Feed America website.

Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimated that in 2020, more than 50 million Americans would not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.

Home > Blog > Helping Charitable Organizations in Atlanta for the Holidays

bigstock-Kitchen-Serving-Food-In-HomeleThe holiday season is a time of giving thanks, spending time with family and friends, and helping out those in need. There are many ways to help out charitable organizations in the Atlanta area from volunteering time at food banks, helping at community meals, or making donations. These charitable organizations are important to the Atlanta area throughout the year, but even more so during the winter months.

Storage World is very proud to be located in an area where helping the members of the community is very important. We are happy to partner with Samaritan’s Purse for many local and international charitable causes.

There are many organizations, food pantries and church groups in the Atlanta area that offer assistance to low-income or homeless families for the holidays. The Atlanta area has larger events including community Thanksgiving meals and holiday food basket distribution. Below are listed just a few of the charitable community organizations that help out those in need in the Atlanta area, including Thanksgiving meals. All of the organizations welcome volunteers to help with their giving events.

Donations can be dropped off at the Roswell headquarters. They also will continue with their “12 Days of Caring” toy, clothing and gift card collection for children from infants to 18 years old. This program helps over 1,800 homeless children have a bit of hope for the holidays.
