BB Cream: Korea’s Best Kept Secret to Gorgeous Skin!
Last Updated on June 20, 2021 by Christine Kaaloa
BB Cream Korea is all the rage: Hallyu actress, Song Hye Gyo, the face of Laniege
Why do Koreans have such luminous and flawless skin?
For a country fixed on skin-deep aesthetics, plastic surgeons, immaculate dress styles, pinpoint-fluffed hair and healthy diets, it stands to consistent logic that Koreans would know how to ‘create’ great-looking skin!
Back in the U.S., I used to spend hours in Sephora, dropping anywhere from $40-$70 on various bottles of moisturizer and spot lightening potions. It was a back-breaking, wallet-splitting chore to maintain my face. Results? As noticeable as having taken a placebo!
Then came “foundation makeup”; a necessity for formal affairs and acting auditions. It went on like a thick mask and had my pores gasping for air! I hated it so much, I wore it, only when absolutely necessary and it came off just as quickly.
BB cream in Korea changed all this.
Table of Contents: BB Cream: Korea’s Best Kept Secret to Gorgeous Skin!
Like Korean face slimming masks, Korea BB cream (aka Blemish Base) is one of my fun and naughty beauty secrets (shhhhh!). In Korea, Korean drama stars use it to get flawless-looking, radiant skin on-screen, but Koreans all over use it to create a clean and clear complexion. In fact, BB cream’s gotten so popular that it’s migrating over to the United States.
BB cream is a 2-in-1 cream, combining Korean skin care and makeup. It goes on like a light foundation, but it has sunscreen, moisturizer, skin brightening, concealer and occasionally, stuff like ‘anti-wrinkle’ or ‘lifting’ cream. My skin seems to like it. It conceals my uneven skin tone and appears smooth and natural. Best of all, my skin looks 10x more rockstar glamorous than it is!
I’ve used it for the past two years and I’m seriously addicted.
Korean BB Cream whitening: Is it for everyone?
Unfortunately, if you have dark or olive-tanned skin, you’re out of luck. BB cream comes in 2 shades: light beige and natural beige (or light and lighter!). As such, my first discovery of BB cream was a rude awakening. Asia is synonymous with whitening solutions and the halo around BB cream is that it gives “radiance ” to your skin.
How much radiance?
Shades of Laneige Snow BB Cream
It was night. I was leaving the store, where I’d discovered and applied a sample of BB cream to my face. I accidentally caught a glimpse of myself in a passing window and gaping shock, accompanied my twinge of horror. My face literally, glowed in the dark. I was a floating head! My face didn’t look real on my body; it was my Michael Jackson moment.
However, the next day, I went back, changed my color to the shade darker and applied a thinner spread. It blended quickly into my skin, creating a perfectly smooth, clear and radiant (but natural-looking) surface.
That was it. I was addicted.

BB cream in Korea: Can men wear BB Cream?
Yes and though ‘men wearing makeup’ feels wrong (by western standards), you’ll love the skin on the men who do… Perhaps part of its draw has to do with its popular Hallyu cover boys. Boys over Flowers stars Lee Min Ho represents Etude House, Kim Hyun Joong is the flawless face for The Face Shopand Secret Garden‘sHyun Binis one of the many poster boys for Laniege. Yum!
Boys Over Flowers Korea star Lee Min Ho endorses BB Cream for Etude House.
Which Korean BB Cream do I prefer?
There are many types of Korean BB creams out there and under different brands. Your options are bountiful.
I like Face Shop’s Face It BB cream and Face Shop’s Face It Power Perfection BB Cream (review here). It goes on light, while forming a smooth, even-toned and radiant palette. I barely know it’s there, to the point, I occasionally forget to wash it off!
The Faceshop Face It Dual BB cream with moisturizer, brightening and SPF 22
The Faceshop’s BB cream Power Perfection- 3-in-1 : antiwrinkle, whitening, sunscreen, moisture and coverage
Amore Pacific Laneige White Plus Renew Snow Crystal Dual Foundation SPF41/PA++ No.23 Sand Beige. Get it on Amazon here. Alternatively, another foundation I use, which isn’t quite BB generation but still packed with glowing goodness I’d swear by. The cap has a concealer stick.
Does prolonged usage improve your skin?
The claim is that BB cream will improve your skin from the inside out, but it’s probably packed with no more toxic junk than other skin products. Nevertheless, my skin feels more firm, moisturized, stronger and resilient. I’ve actually noticed less acne breakouts on my end. My sunspots and freckles are still there, but my acne scars are slow fading.
As a person who’s always hated wearing “makeup”, it’s changed the way I feel, from a zero to a 100. I love the way BB cream makes me look and I love wearing it when I go out. Best of all, it’s made my daily regimen of moisturizer and sunscreen, no longer a chore but an incentive to beauty.
Who doesn’t want gorgeous skin?
With BB cream, I have it.
Here’s a video on the rage over beauty care products in Korea.
BB cream and cc cream:
make-up that takes care of your skin
It's several years since BB cream revolutionised the world of cosmetics by providing an alternative to foundation. Combining make-up and skincare, this cream quickly became the cult product for many women. In the wake of its success, a new generation emerged soon after: the CC cream. What are the differences between these two skincare products? How should you go about choosing the perfect tinted moisturiser? Let’s address these questions now.
BB cream: make-up that goes the extra mile
The history and principles behind the product
The very first BB cream was invented in Germany in the 1950s and was a thick moisturising paste. It was primarily used as a post-operative wound-healing preparation and its challenging texture made it impossible to use on a daily basis. At the same time, aesthetic medicine really took off in Asia. Women began having regular peeling treatments. These cause redness, making it imperative to protect the skin from environmental damage.
At the end of the 1980s, a Korean dermatologist set out in pursuit of a “miracle solution” to meet the requirements of these women obsessed with their complexion. He began with the original German balm and formulated the beauty product that we all know today, resulting in
Blemish Balm cream, our present-day BB cream.
The BB cream designed in Asia was to have three main purposes:
- To soothe skin and allow it to breathe following an aesthetic procedure, to facilitate effective healing;
- To conceal redness caused by peeling treatments;
- To protect the skin from the sun’s rays.
Its secrets lie in its formulation:
- it contains complex volatile ingredients. When these ingredients come into contact with the skin’s warmth and evaporate, other active ingredients produce a tinted finish on the face.
- When applied, BB cream immediately undergoes a transformation, as the colour in the tube does not represent the end result. It contains so-called “chameleon” pigments, which assume the shade which best suits the user's skin tone.
The first time-saving all-in-one product
Following its success in Asia, BB cream rapidly became the beauty industry’s global superstar. In 2009, it became available in France. The product appealed to many women as an alternative to foundation, known to be drying and the cause of blackheads.
With its integrated skincare formula, it offers more than a simple cosmetic product and fulfils a number of different functions, by moisturising, correcting and evening out the complexion. The multitude of benefits and effective coverage of this tinted moisturiser allow you to pare the morning beauty regime down to a single product, allowing the busiest amongst us to regain valuable time.
Our selection of BB creams
CC cream: colour corrector
In some respects, CC cream is BB’s older sister. While BB cream became a must-have cosmetic product for many women, it didn’t always meet all their needs, particularly in terms of dealing with uneven skin tone, such as redness or dark circles. What’s more, BB cream was not always an adequate moisturiser.
It was against this backdrop that CC cream (colour correction cream) emerged in Asia. As its name suggests, it evens out the skin tone by correcting the skin’s colour differences. Like BB cream, its secret is in its ability to adapt to any complexion. It often comes in 2 or 3 shades: light, medium and dark. CC cream is also non-comedogenic and more liquid. However it also provides less coverage than BB cream.
The right colour for every type of flaw
The balm's encapsulated pigments are activated on contact with the skin, working to correct uneven skin tone or minor imperfections in the complexion.
Once applied, certain pigments will develop depending on the problem you wish to conceal:
- green corrects redness;
- yellow pigments eradicate purplish circles;
- mauve will brighten a dull complexion;
- orange creates a healthy-glow.
To guard against the sun’s harmful effects, BB cream and CC cream both contain sunscreen, generally ranging from SPF 15 to SPF 30. Some CC creams even provide a high protection SPF 50.
Our selection of CC creams
BB cream or CC cream: which to choose?
There is really only a slight difference between BB and CC cream because ultimately they both have the ability to brighten the complexion by adapting to its skin tone. That being said, they are used for different purposes.
Do you want to replace your foundation? BB cream is the right choice for you
If you tend to conceal skin imperfections using foundation, BB cream is the best choice for you.
That’s because BB cream delivers greater coverage and a natural result. At Cocooncenter, we have a range of selected products from well-known brands, such as Hydrean BB Cream by La Roche-Posay, a tinted moisturiser formulated with thermal spring water, or Idéalia BB Cream by Vichy which is suitable for the most sensitive of skins.
Do you want to correct one or two flaws? CC cream is the answer
If your skin is simply red or blotchy, or you tend towards dark circles, CC cream’s targeted corrective action has the power to reduce these minor flaws and give your face a more even complexion.
With less coverage than a BB cream, CC cream focuses more on skincare, offering all the benefits of an effective moisturiser for the most sensitive of skins and providing good protection from environmental damage.
At Cocooncenter, our pharmacists have carefully selected the best CC creams to suit your individual needs. For instance, to counteract minor redness, Erborian’s Red Correct CC Cream will soon become your best friend.
Did you know?
"Alphabetic creams" don’t stop at C. We are now seeing the emergence of new generations, such as:
• DD cream, “Daily Defence”, offering targeted UV skin protection;
• EE cream, “Extra Exfoliating” or “Energy Enhancer”, which stimulates skin rejuvenation;
• GG cream, “Genius Glow”, combining the best features from the previous generations.
Midway between skincare and make-up, BB and CC creams are an excellent alternative for women who dream of a radiant complexion without the need for foundation. What’s more, this skincare revolution is no longer the preserve of women. Since the male version of CC cream was launched a few years ago, men can now enjoy all these benefits too.
If you’re choosing between BB or CC cream, remember:
- BB cream is more like foundation than CC cream;
- CC cream provides lighter coverage than BB cream;
- CC cream provides targeted correction for discolouration of the skin, such as redness, blotchiness or dark circles.

If you’re looking to achieve flawless, glowing skin, these Korean CC creams can bring out the best in you.
Over the last couple of years, women have been looking for options to hide their dark spots, wrinkles, blemishes, and imperfections.
But lately, a new wave of beauty products came out, bringing in fantastic benefits and acting as wonderful substitutes for your usual fare of foundations and moisturizers.
Korean CC creams
Regular foundations and moisturizers are great, don’t get me wrong. They clean you right up, giving smooth and even skin tone.
But if they are not your cup of tea, here’s something better.
This is where the Korean skincare industry comes in.
Have you heard about Korean CC creams?
If you’re addicted to beauty and want to try something new, you might be eager to know about this particular kind of cosmetics.
What are Korean CC creams?
Tired of your usual foundations and moisturizers?
Then you might want to check out Korean CC creams.
Wondering what to expect from these beauty products?
Korean CC creams can give you a youthful and radiant glow without the heaviness of foundation. They are effective at addressing face discoloration and cover up your blemishes.
If you have wrinkles and other fine lines on your face, these creams will have you looking younger and glowing.
It’s also worth mentioning that a lot of women turned their backs on regular foundations and opt for Korean CC creams.
A heavy cream foundation, for instance, can clog the skin pores and trigger acne breakouts. And if you have sensitive skin, it could mean more problems for you.
This is why Korean CC creams are a more preferred option for many women.
You’re probably wondering what does “CC” mean?
Well, it stands for color correction.
And perhaps you’ve heard about BB creams; “BB” stands for beauty balm.

Why even consider Korean CC creams?
The most common reason why a lot of women prefer Korean CC creams over the regular foundations is the matter of frequent touch-ups.
Throughout the day, we may sweat and touch our faces. And at the end of the day, we may look worse; that is unless we did frequent touch-ups from time to time.
Nobody likes to do frequent touch-ups. Especially when it’s a busy day and there are a lot of things to do.
So instead of worrying about how we look, we tend to focus on our day’s tasks and just let our appearance be.
Sweat and oil can take its toll on our looks. It gets worse if we rubbed anything off.
But not with Korean CC creams. These beauty products give you everything you desire without committing to a full makeup look.
No touch-ups from time to time, no smudges.
Korean CC creams contain components that counteract the issues on your skin, giving you a glow from within.
Say good-bye to dullness or redness on your skin and hello to a radiantly youthful glow.
How do Korean CC creams work?
Korean CC creams will blur the imperfections on your face.
Think of these creams as a primer.
These Korean beauty products will even everything out. It’s like creating a blank canvas before you go in with your usual makeup routine.
Or even if you don’t wear makeup after putting them on, these Korean CC creams can still give you a perfect-looking, natural glow.
How to apply the Korean CC Cream?
CC creams are easily blendable. You can apply with your fingers, a damp sponge or stipple it in with a flat kabuki brush.
But because they already have a whipped texture, it’s easier to apply Korean CC creams. You’ll have no problem putting them on using circular motions.
Also, don’t rub them too hard into your skin; otherwise, you’ll risk skin damage.
You might also want to apply Korean CC creams before your foundation. That way, you’ll use less of the foundation.
How to choose the right Korean CC cream for you?
Ideally, a good Korean CC cream for you is one that will hydrate your skin and reduce the appearance of blemishes and other imperfections. That despite its light coverage, it can still give you glowing results.
So how do you choose one?
Here are my simple pointers when deciding on the best Korean CC cream for you.
1. It should be suitable for your skin.
Although most Korean CC creams are ideal for all skin types, the key is to spend your money where you get the most bang for your buck.
I suggest you read Korean CC cream review articles. Or you can ask your friends who used or are using these beauty products.
If possible, try out one product at a time. Ask the clerk in the shop if you could go ahead and test one for free.
The idea here to gather information about a particular Korean CC cream before buying it. And try out as many as you can. Having an idea is better than having none at all.
2. Do you have oily or dry skin?
This is a special consideration to take into account.
If you have dry skin, you might have to use a hydrating Korean CC cream. Pick one that won’t cling to the dry patches of skin.
On the other hand, if you have oily skin, set the Korean CC cream with powder. It’s an additional step you’ll make in your routine.
3. What’s your skin tone?
Just like when you’re picking the right foundation, consider your skin tone when deciding on the best Korean CC cream for you.
Korean CC creams offer light coverage; that is, they don’t appear like you’re wearing a mask. So ideally, your skin should still be visible underneath.
Therefore, try one out first before buying. Test it on your neck or lower jaw area; these bear a similar tone to your facial skin. Then check its application under natural lighting.
Take note that some Korean CC creams will oxidize; that when it gets exposed in the air, they may look darker.
So to accommodate the change in tone or complexion, wait it out for a bit. As part of testing it out, leave the Korean CC cream on your skin for about an hour or two. See if there are any changes in its color or tone.
4. Korean CC creams are not substitutes for sunscreens or moisturizers.
Although Korean CC creams feature SPF protection and hydrating benefits, don’t rely on them as your sunscreen or moisturizer. So you should have these two in addition to the Korean product.
Having said this, Korean CC creams work best if you apply a moisturizer underneath it.
As for your sunscreen, choose at least an SPF 30. That way, you get protection from the harmful UV rays.
5. Korean CC creams are great primers under your foundation.
They are great for everyday applications. But what if you need to look your best for an evening event?
To achieve the photo-perfect look, a Korean CC cream may work as a primer. Simply apply it under your foundation, and you’ll look wonderful.
Have you tried any of these Korean CC creams?
What Are CC Creams?
The CC in CC Cream stands for ‘Color Correcting’, ‘Complexion Correcting’ or ‘Color Control’. CC Creams are used as a makeup item to cover up age spots, dark spots, acne scars, tissue scars, redness, pits, pores, sallow patches, and so on. The end goal is to get an even toned, clean, and healthy looking complexion.
What’s the Difference Between BB Creams and CC Creams?
Both BB Creams and CC Creams are primarily used to create an even skin tone. CC Creams are mostly used with, or instead of, a foundation. This is because their main goal is to provide concealment of flaws and total coverage. CC Creams address skin issues like rosacea, sallowness, dryness, aging, etc., to create a clear and even-toned complexion.
CC Creams provide cosmetic solutions which are similar to makeup items, while BB Creams provide long term repair and rejuvenation solutions for your skin problems. With CC Creams, the effect is instant and not long lasting.
Why Korean CC Creams?
CC Creams originated in Singapore and are a spin-off of BB Creams. Their popularity soared in South Korea with their branding as tinted moisturizers. Since then, Korean CC Creams have been gaining in popularity across the globe.
The other reason for their widespread usage over non-Korean CC Creams is due to the advanced formulas they use. The Korean patents’ approval and granting system is much faster than the system in the west. Newer makeup and skincare formulas are approved and launched much more frequently in South Korea than they are in the western hemisphere. Due to this, their formulas make use of the latest know-how in pharmaceutical technology and medicine, making them much more advanced in composition than their slower moving western counterparts.
What to Look for in the Best Korean CC Creams?
- Coverage should be the single biggest factor to consider when buying a Korean CC Cream. You are using it to conceal your skin problems and cover them up to create a smooth complexion.
- Compatibility with your skin type should be next on your agenda. A formula that works for one skin type may not work as well for another.
- Price, as always, will be an important factor in buying any cosmetic item. Most CC Creams tend to be expensive, so choose wisely.
Based on the above criteria, here’s our list of the Best Korean CC Creams available online:

Guide to Buying the Best Korean CC Creams
Besides the 6 Korean CC Creams listed above, there are other Korean CC Creams that are used extensively in Korea but remain obscure in the United States. Chief amongst these are 3W CLINIC Crystal Whitening CC Cream and Ekel Snail CC Cream. Korean beauty bloggers sing many praises of these CC Creams and they’re frequently included in their top ten best Korean CC Cream lists.
Yet others like The Face Shop Face It Aura CC Cream and Lioele Dollish Cera-V CC Cream, are gaining traction here but aren’t available for purchase online at the moment. These Korean CC Creams have high SPF ratings, provide broad range coverage from sun damage, are multi-purpose and decently priced. Too bad they are out of reach for now. However, the ones on our list that are available are their equals or better.
We’ve already learned that Korean CC Creams are preferred over non-Korean CC Creams because they have fresher formulas, employ the latest technology and know-how, work as effective sunscreen lotions and have a faster window of improvements owing to the Korean governments speedy approval of newer patents.
Here’s a little more information about these all-in-one magic tubes that will aid you in selecting the perfect Korean CC Cream.
What Kind of CC Cream Is Best for My Skin Type?
Based on the ingredients in the CC Cream, your skin sensitivity, and the level of coverage you require, here’s our cheat sheet for selecting the right Korean CC Cream:
- Oily Skin: Water based formulas that do not add to your sebum secretion woes, preferably those that provide a matte finish with medium to high coverage.
- Normal Skin: Dewy finish formulas that provide light to medium coverage.
- Dry Skin: Moisturizer based formulas with a dewy or silky finish.
- Aging Skin: Go for CC Cream formulas rich in antioxidants, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid.
- Dark Spots and Tissue Scars: Choose CC Creams with broad spectrum UV coverage that have high SPF and PF ratings, preferably with medium to high coverage, and skin hydrating agents.
- Sensitive Skin: Stick to CC Creams that use natural ingredients and are free of fragrances.
What Shade of CC Cream Is Best for Me?
There are limited options when it comes to choosing the right shade. Thankfully, most of these creams are heavily tinted so you can always mix a product or two to get the right match for your skin tone.
What Should I Look for in a CC Cream Beside Coverage and Skin Compatibility?
The latest formulas available in the market also provide additional perks like skin brightening, primer functionality, anti-aging properties, complete pore coverage, gradual wrinkles reduction with consistent usage, high SPF and PA coverage, deep moisturizing, and so on. Once you’ve figured out the coverage and compatibility factors, choose a CC Cream that offers as many of the above listed benefits as possible. This will also ensure you get the most bang for your buck as CC Creams tend to be more expensive than other skincare and cosmetic items like BB Creams and concealers.
BB Creams or CC Creams? Which One Should I Use?
BB Creams are designed to provide skincare solutions in the long term, along with some makeup perks like medium to light coverage and sun-blocking.
CC Creams, on the other hand, are geared to replace makeup items like concealers, foundations, and primers. They are like deeply tinted moisturizing primers that also double up as foundation and concealers. And when it comes to Korean CC Creams, which have high SPF and PA ratings, you can totally skip your sunscreen lotions too. CC Creams may or may not provide any skincare benefits in the long run, unlike BB Creams.
Can I Use a CC Cream as a Standalone Product?
Yes! You totally can. CC Creams are basically just advanced concealer/foundation formulas that also provide the benefits of a primer and sunscreen.
Pro tip: Use them as a makeup item during day time rather than as a skincare lotion for healing and protection in the long term.
What Kind of Skin Prep Should I Follow Before Using a CC Cream?
- Like all pre-makeup application routines, you need to wash and cleanse your face. Use an additional pore cleanser to get all the gunk out of your pores.
- Pat your face dry.
- Use a moisturizer even if the CC Cream boasts of a skin hydrating formula.
- Use a primer if the CC Cream doesn’t mention the functionality of a primer in its features.
- If you’re going to use a BB Cream, this is where it goes. Let it settle before you use a CC Cream.
You’re now all set for the application of CC Cream.
What’s the Best Way to Apply CC Cream?
Although CC Creams provide better coverage than BB Creams, they’re very lightweight and do not have a thick texture. Depending on the evenness of your skin tone, you’ll need a little to a lot of product to get full coverage. Unlike BB Creams, a pea sized dollop will not be enough. Additional dabs of the cream, on problem areas, may be required depending on the texture of your skin and its pigmentation issues.
Use a brush to dab it on to your face in short strokes. Then use a beauty blender or sponge to spread it evenly across your face and neck.
If you’re going to use concealers, foundation, and other products, they’ll go on after the CC Cream, i.e. Moisturizer -> Primer(Optional) -> BB Cream(Optional) -> CC Cream -> Concealer(Optional) -> Foundation -> Setting Powder/Compact, in that order.
What Are the Advantages of Using Korean CC Creams?
- The biggest advantage of using a CC Cream is that you can replace a couple of cosmetics with a single tube of CC Cream. Foundation and concealer are two products you can totally skip. And if you’re using a Korean CC Cream, you can also forgo your sunscreen. On the flip side, as CC Creams provide more than one function, they’re usually more on the expensive side of the price spectrum. Even if they do serve the function of a few makeup items, they’re not very economical for daily use.
- They’re big time savers if you’re in a hurry. Their multipurpose applications save time and effort while getting ready. You can head out after a few brush strokes and sponge dabs, instead of spending time on a long-winded makeup application routine.
- Korean CC Creams have a broad spectrum of SPF ratings – much more advanced than the regular SPF sunblocks. These formulas provide protection from a wide range of harmful UV radiations.
- Korean CC Creams usually make use of natural ingredients, herbal extracts, and vegan formulas. They put emphasis on avoiding the usage of harmful chemicals that are too harsh on the skin. This makes them much more amenable to daily use. You can safely avoid breakouts, dry skin, and other makeup related problems when you’re using Korean CC Creams.
- Due to the faster system of granting patents and approving innovations and research in South Korea, Korean CC Creams have the most advanced formulas and provide better benefits than regular CC Creams. For example, the latest formulas with water-based skin hydration are quite an improvement on the oil-based formulas relied on so far.
- In addition to providing a high level of coverage, some Korean CC Creams are also designed to create a skin brightening effect. These formulas tone up and tighten your skin giving it a more youthful appearance, and provide it with a healthy glow all day long.
- Unlike traditional cosmetics, Korean CC Creams are light, blend in nicely with facial skin, and are very camera friendly. No more caked up or greasy faced pictures – just perfectly natural looking skin and pretty memories to share.

We’ve also provided ample information on how to go about choosing the best Korean CC Cream for your skin type and coverage requirements, how to prep your skin before application of CC Creams, and the best way to apply CC Creams. Do the advantages of using a Korean CC Cream have you thinking about investing in one? Good! Go right ahead!
BB creams are old news in Asia and that’s because they’ve moved onto CC creams. The difference between BB creams and CC creams is that CC creams contain more skincare benefits, and acts less like a foundation-like product. Because of that, CC creams are often used as makeup primer/base; thus, they’re worn underneath foundations and in some cases, they’re worn underneath other BB creams as well. The point of a CC cream is not to really cover anything — they’re used as a skincare product — and, will blur imperfections, conceal redness and pores, and leave behind just your skin in its nearly natural state.
What will they think of next? DD creams? Lol. I purchased my CC cream from eBay because I wanted to try a Korean brand. While visiting Korea a few years ago, my cousins turned me onto Banila Co., and it quickly became one of my favorite non-department store brands. The price range is quite fair — while it’s not as cheap as Etude House, The Face Shop, and Skinfood — the product line is geared towards “professional women,” so the range targets concerns like whitening, brightening, wrinkle-fighting, etc.
As you can see from the product swatches, there are no other shade because the color of the product is not skin-toned. In fact, the pinkish hue disappears completely into the skin and absorbs quickly. After application, it looks like you didn’t apply anything at all; but, your overall skintone and texture looks remarkably better. The sun protection is medium compared to higher SPF’s in most Asian BB creams; but, unless you have good skin to begin with, this CC cream is the first step before regular makeup application (and can replace separate sun protection or makeup base for some people).
The texture of the CC cream is light and blends easily — making a little bit of product go a long way. The floral scent is nice but nothing special. This is great for evening out skintone and texture — meaning, even the bumps that are raised seem to be less noticeable in some magical way. Pores are easily concealed with this product; and, because the finish is extremely natural, it’s essentially undetectable. It just looks like skin! The overall finish is dewy and healthy. I find the product to be very moisturizing, but the whitening claims are pretty non-existent in my book. While it didn’t do anything bad to my skin, I didn’t notice any real/long-term changes because of this product.
CC creams are entirely different than BB creams and I think it depends on your own skin care concerns. If you’re looking for high coverage and need something for large pores and acne (including scars), I think it’s best to stick to a BB cream or foundation. If you don’t have that many concerns regarding your skin, a CC cream and some powder could be all you need on an every day basis. However, if you’re looking to double-up on products for a special occasion, or you just need the extra coverage, you can layer on foundation over a CC cream to achieve your desired effect.
Previously, I tried the Rachel K CC Cream in neutral. I didn’t like the grayish tone, but it blended in decently (but not to my liking). I feel like both can be worn alone as well. It really does depends on your own concerns — skincare-wise and coverage-wise.
